Exterior painting in Oregon from GreenTree covers Albany, Corvallis, Eugene and Springfield, and every job starts with a full house wash. GreenTree paints exteriors only and does not offer interior painting. You get a free written quote before any work starts.
Written in October, ahead of next summer’s painting season. This page links our four city painting pages and sets out the valley’s painting calendar.

Four short answers first. The city pages, the painting calendar and the prep follow below.
No. GreenTree paints exteriors only and does not offer interior painting. We paint the outside of houses and outbuildings: siding, trim, fascia, eaves, doors, porches, fences and sheds. That focus fits the rest of our work, which is all outdoors too.
GreenTree offers exterior painting in Albany, Corvallis, Eugene and Springfield, across the middle of the Willamette Valley. Each city has its own page below, because the houses and the rules differ. For example, Albany has historic districts, Corvallis has rentals, Eugene has every siding type and Springfield has mill-town bungalows.
GreenTree prices every exterior painting job as a free written quote before work starts, and that number is the price. Exterior painting projects start at $1,000. We do not publish a per-foot painting rate, because prep decides most of the cost. Instead, stories, siding, trim detail, access and any lead-safe work all show up on the written quote.
In the Willamette Valley, the dependable window is mid to late summer, when siding stays dry for days at a time. However, rain usually returns in October and peaks in November and December. Fall dew and fog can leave walls wet until midday, so the best use of winter is getting quotes and booking a summer slot.
Each city has its own page, because the houses and the rules differ from city to city.
Victorian and early twentieth century houses in the Monteith and Hackleman districts. Albany exempts paint colour changes from historic review, but repairs should match the old profile.
Rentals near Oregon State timed to the summer gap between leases, plus the lead notice older rentals need. Also, shaded hillside walls get a mildew wash first.
Every siding type, from old cedar in Whiteaker to plywood and hardboard in Bethel, each with its own prep. Because of the rain, midsummer is the main painting season.
Washburne mill-town bungalows and long ranch walls, with a guide to why old paint fails and what fixes each failure.
A month-by-month plan for Oregon homeowners, because the valley has wet winters and dry summers.
| Months | Weather in the valley | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| November to February | Wettest months, short days | Get quotes, choose colours, book a summer slot |
| March and April | Rain eases but walls stay damp | Fix leaks and gutters that will ruin new paint |
| May and June | Drier spells, some showers | Wash the house; paint on dry, settled stretches |
| July and August | Driest weeks of the year | Main painting season for whole houses |
| September | Usually dry, cooler nights, more dew | Finish smaller jobs early in the day |
| October | Rain returns, morning fog | Touch-ups in dry spells; plan next year |
NOAA’s climate normals for the Eugene airport show that pattern clearly, with July and August nearly dry and November and December the wettest. Still, the National Weather Service office in Portland covers the whole valley, and its forecasts decide the actual painting days.
The same five stages run on every house in every city, so prep is where the time goes.
First, walk the house and write the quote
We look at every wall, the trim, the eaves and the access around your Oregon home. After that, you get one written price before any work starts.
Then wash the whole exterior
Paint will not bond to dirt, chalk or mildew, so the house gets a soft wash first. Afterwards, Sherwin-Williams calls for 24 to 48 hours of drying.
Scrape, sand and repair before primer
First, loose and peeling paint comes off down to a sound edge. Next, glossy spots get sanded dull, and we flag soft wood for repair before paint.
Then prime and caulk
After that, bare wood and repaired spots get primer. Open joints around trim and windows get caulk, so rain cannot run behind the paint.
Finally, paint and walk it with you
Finally, finish coats go on in dry weather, within the temperature range printed on the can. A final walk-through with you then closes out the job.

Sherwin-Williams’ exterior painting guide puts the weight in the same place: wash off grime, mildew and loose paint, let the house dry, then scrape, sand and prime. Siding makers publish their own rules too. For example, James Hardie issues guidance for fiber cement, and the Vinyl Siding Institute explains how to repaint vinyl without warping it.
Because the wash is the first step of every paint job, and washing Oregon houses is what GreenTree has done since 2022. That means we already see how siding holds up under moss, mildew and rain on house after house. Painting then extends that work to the finish coat, on the outside of the house only.
It also keeps one crew on the job from start to finish. First the same people wash the house, then they let it dry, scrape and prime, and finally they paint. That way, nobody has to hand over a half-prepped wall. If you would rather start with a wash and decide on paint later, our house washing service shows you what the siding looks like clean.
Older paint layers can contain lead, so the rules for disturbing them are federal and state law, not a painter’s preference.
Any firm paid to scrape, sand or repaint a home built before the federal ban on lead house paint must follow lead-safe work practices. Indeed, the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting rule sets that duty. Here, the Oregon Health Authority and the Construction Contractors Board run the program.
Lead-safe work also changes how a paint job looks from the street. For example, the EPA’s lead-safe practices call for plastic sheeting under the work area. Meanwhile, open-flame burning is off the table, and power sanding needs a HEPA vacuum attachment. The work area then gets a thorough clean-up and a check before the job is finished. Before the work starts, you should also get the EPA pamphlet on lead-safe renovation.
So, before you hire anyone, ask to see their lead-safe paperwork, and then check the firm with the Construction Contractors Board search. That applies to us too. The Oregon Health Authority’s remodeling guide explains what homeowners can check. Similarly, the EPA homeowner page covers the same ground in plain terms.
Three facts you can check before anyone opens a can: the price terms, the insurance and the track record.
Exterior painting in Oregon is priced as a free written quote before work starts, and that number is the price. GreenTree does not publish a per-foot rate for painting, because two houses of the same size can need very different prep. Also, the quote lists the walls, trim, prep and number of coats it covers.
GreenTree carries $2 million in general liability insurance, and a certificate can reach you before the crew arrives. After all, painting means long days on ladders around your windows, roofline and plants. If uninsured help causes damage, the bill can land on the owner, so ask any painter for proof of cover.
GreenTree Services was founded in Corvallis in 2022 and works across the Willamette Valley. So far, GreenTree holds a 5.0 rating on Google, earned on house washing, roof, gutter and deck work. Exterior painting is a newer service for us, so ask to see the washing and prep work those reviews describe.
Paint is the last coat on a clean house. These services usually come before it or alongside it.
It can, and it is worth planning together, because both jobs need the same dry weather. However, our deck staining in Oregon is priced on its own terms. Deck cleaning from GreenTree Services runs $350 to $2,000. Deck staining from GreenTree Services, including cleaning and sanding, runs $1,500 to $4,500. GreenTree’s full deck package typically costs about $3,000 and covers the whole process, from cleaning and sanding to staining, repairs and restoration.
Other GreenTree services: house washing, pressure washing, deck restoration and the full service area.

There is no single best brand, so exterior painting in Oregon depends more on a clean, dry, sound surface, the right primer for the siding, and a paint applied within its label’s weather limits.
Yes, once it is clean and sound. First, loose paint comes off, then glossy areas get sanded dull and bare wood gets primer. Otherwise, paint over a failing layer fails with it.
Any firm paid to disturb old paint on those homes must follow lead-safe work practices under the EPA rule, which the Oregon Health Authority and the Construction Contractors Board run in Oregon.

Send the address and a few photos, and we set a time for the walk-around. The quote is free and written as well. Phones answer seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, and winter is the time to claim a summer slot.
